I have never been a bridesmaid. The dresses are usually hideous and unusable. The whole traditional wedding thing I don’t get. The costs of weddings are insane. If you have the money laying around to spend, go ahead. I would rather have my parents give me the money spent on a wedding for a nice down payment on a house.
The grooms parents usually throw the rehearsement dinner, and usually pay for the honeymoon. The brides parents host the wedding, buy the dress, and majority of everything.
The groomsmen and maid of honor carry the wedding rings.
It is the tradition for the bride to give out bridesmaid gifts. Usually a nice necklace, jewelry box or something special from the heart.
The groom give out a little small gift to his groomsmen and wear matching ties. A nice roller ball pen, a money clip, or a engraved trinket would do as a gift!
I know I have left out may other items, but you get the drift.
I had a small ceremony that only included family. We plan to have a honeymoon at our 5 year anniversary.
