Im sure you have gotten those little keepsake bibles for your children passed down from the family. They are a great keepsake and nice to have. When I was a kid, I always loved thumbing through my family’s bibles. Inside , my grandparents used to keep records of births and deaths. That is how they used to do it back in the day before records were kept. The folks were also poor and some didn’t go down to the registers office. If you had your child at home, it was ok, and you did not have to register your child.
My family is super religious. We did not go to church when I was a kid. My grandfather did, and took me on occasions. I loved it when they sang, and sometimes they would ask me to pick a song. I never knew anything about the songs or the meaning of me going to the singing house.
When I was in my teens, I asked Granny who Jesus was. (How sad right?) She told me. I cried. I had not been to church all these years and I never knew. In my teens, I did go to church and get saved. YAY!
I do not want my children to go through the same route that i did. I recently received The Jesus Book by Stephen Elkins and illustrated by Claudine Gevry. It is so nice to have and my two year old begs me to read it to her. The illustrations are so beautiful and eye catching. It is a very durable book for little hands. It also comes with a 30 song cd inside, for those car trips!
The book has 3 indexes in the back for finding information quickly. It has a Scripture index, Topical index, and a names and places index.
Thank you for sending this book to us, we really enjoy it. The stories are easy to read and easy to comprehend!
