Today was supposed to be a cool, calm collected Tuesday. The first day of my sons school. He was up before the whole house. This has never happened in the entire time he has started school. The bus did not come or was late, and he got to walk up the street and get on the bus with his best friend. I let him go, and I let him figure out how to get home and where to stop at. HE DID! One more step to figuring out things on his own and using his noggin, instead of screaming… MOM. Here are a few life lessons I learned today..
1. I had to learn to give my son a little bit of rope and let him go on his own. If i don’t He will rely on me for the rest of his life to keep hanging on to that rope and pull him in when he needs it.
2. Be good to your children. Take advantage of every cute moment they have. Cherish the pig tails, dresses, the little stuffed animals they tote around, and all the laughter and smiles. Some parents out there don’t do this, and they will learn they have missed out on so much.
3. If your hubby is doing something or wants to go and do something. Let him do it. You’re supposed to have this trust anyway. If you let him do what he wants, in the end they will love your more. (my hubby has been playing sims3 for the past couple days lol)
4.If you hated your mother as a teenager, it was probably because she did not want you to grow up in the same footsteps she made. Most likely your relationship will improve in your mid 20s, and then you’re too ashamed to apologize and hear the I told you so’s… Yeah go ahead and say Mom, you were right. Thanks.
If you have a chance and your mother needs help. Do so by all cost! There will be a day when she will not be there.
