Bud Light Swear Jar

Guest post written by my friend Darryl Sasso

Most of the time, commercials are a waste of time. Consumers don’t want their television shows interrupted by someone trying to sell us a product that we either don’t want, or would buy anyway. But every once in awhile, there is a gem to be found during those boring three minutes when we want nothing more than our show to come back on. Not very often, it’s true. But it does happen.

A few years back, I was watching a movie on my San Antonio directv. Friends were over, and we got to talking, so we just let the commercials play instead of fast forwarding through them. A commercial came on for Bud Light beer. It started with a tired looking man asking what the jar is for. A secretary tells him that it’s a swear jar and the money will go for something around the office. Maybe a case of Bud Light beer, even. The man responds to this by saying “F***ing awesome!” and proceeds to put a quarter in the jar. The commercial then shows different people in the office swearing and adding money to the jar. There are people passing by each other saying “F#@*& you” instead of hello. I loved this commercial so much that I posted it on my MySpace profile for a little while.
